"Death by Plastic"

Plastics that have been littered or thrown out will eventually float into the ocean. Black-footed Albatross are ocean surface feeders and depend on finding food on the oceans surface for themselves. The birds often mistake floating plastic debris as food and will ingest high quantities of plastic bottle caps, plastic fragments, discarded cigarette lighters, and plastic toys, which unfortunately, they also feed to their chicks on remote islands.

watch these videos. It freaked me out.

What we can do to help:
Recycle
Buy less plastic
Use paper bags

Set an example to others and encourage them to help. Every little bit helps. Pollution in the water will eventually lead back to us. "Plastic food anyone?"

Great way to convey the message.
That's heart breaking. I'm in a global ecology program, but I haven't heard of anything about the plastic taking over the ocean. Hope to spread the word!

Very nice job, I like how the letters weave in

Didn't hear it in the videos but another problem associated with plastics and albatross specifically, is that albatross live to be quite old, sometimes 50 years, depending on the species. So that's 50 years of plastic being eaten. Also the plastic exfoliating "beads" which are becoming popular in soaps are the same size as sand so filter feeders on the beach end up ingesting these and not enough food.
